Ignite

There’s a whole lot of “bonding” going on in this fifth installment of
the Parched Vampire Romance Novel Series.
 
We’ve just discovered humans who have had their blood consumed by vampires. The grave issue is that they are in a strange coma and the Selells, or vampires, did not die. 

 “A Selell dies if he drinks a human’s blood without consent. That’s the law,” Derek, Zillael’s Wek, says as if what I just told him can’t be true. 
“But Jake’s not dead, right?” He’s all Zillael is worried about the human at the moment. 
“Not technically,” I say. 
“Then we have to save him. We can still save him, can’t we?” 
At this moment, I have zero answers. This is all new to me, and I’m wondering where Lorenzo is. Isn’t it his job to help provide me with answers? There’s only one source I can reference at this juncture. 
“Maybe the script can provide some answers,” I say with a sigh. “Because if vampires can suck the blood from humans and live, then something has definitely changed.” 
We all stand in silence, looking from one person to the next. Humans easily fed upon by vampires? As I stand here, for some reason gravity feels stronger, the air stiffer, and the world more dangerous.
